PRODUCT The service provides information on the degree and pace of land consumption and soil sealing, as well as generalised land cover. This information is analysed along with demographic and geo-spatial data to derive aggregated products at various administrative levels and to assess the ecological and geophysical impact of land consumption/ soil sealing. INNOVATION The product is more detailed with regard to class definition, scale and geometric precision than the currently applied data sets (e.g. CLC, cadastre, land use zoning plans and statistical land use information).The derived localised information can be combined with other geo-spatial data in GIS. APPLICATIONS The service provides assistance for regular reporting obligations, inputs to more comprehensive analysis of such data, and a basis for spatial planners and decision makers at the regional, national and European level.
